Driver hospitalized in I-74 crash

RURAL OAKWOOD — An Ohio man was hospitalized in fair condition Monday morning after the semitrailer truck he was driving overturned late Sunday night on Interstate 74 in Vermilion County.

According to a state police report, Steve Johnston, 40, of West Liberty, Ohio, was driving west on I-74 between Oakwood and Danville at 11:40 p.m. Sunday. The truck went off the road, hit eight crash barrels and damaged more than 400 feet of median crash wires before it overturned, police said.

Johnston was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition Monday morning.

No tickets have been issued.
