Police seek female in Urbana bank robbery (With video)

URBANA — Urbana police are investigating a bank robbery allegedly committed by a teen-age girl Thursday afternoon.

A release said officers were called to Heartland Bank & Trust Company at 1812 Philo Road at 3:05 p.m.

The release said a young black female, who appeared to be a teenager, presented a note to bank employees. They handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to her. She was last seen running southeast in the direction of Colorado Avenue holding an envelope.

Investigator Duane Smith said no weapon was shown. Police have not revealed what the note said.

The robber is described as female, approximately 16 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches tall, thin build, light skin, and crooked teeth. She was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with dark blue stripes and blue jeans.

Police ask anyone with information to call the Urbana Police Department at 217-384-2320. Callers may remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 217-373-TIPS or texting "CCTip" plus the information to CRIMES (274637).
