Woman arrested for Urbana bank robbery

URBANA — Police have arrested an Urbana woman in connection with a robbery at an Urbana bank.

Alicia Marie Smith, 18, who listed an address in the 2400 block of East Elm Street, Urbana, is being charged with aggravated robbery following her arrest over the weekend.

Smith's bond was set over the weekend at $100,000.

According to an Urbana police report, officers were called to Heartland Bank & Trust Co., 1812 Philo Road, at 3:05 p.m. Thursday.

Police said a young black female, who appeared to be a teenager, presented a note to employees, who handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.

She was last seen running southeast in the direction of Colorado Avenue holding an envelope.

Investigator Duane Smith said no weapon was shown.

Urbana police said Sunday night that no information was available on Smith's arrest.
