Champaign district's Gold Card Club sets breakfast

CHAMPAIGN — The Champaign school district's Gold Card Club, which is open to those age 55 and older who live within the school district, is having a breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 16 at Westview Elementary School.

The breakfast will include an update from Superintendent Judy Wiegand and a tour of the recently remodeled school, led by Principal Sean Morrison.

Those who aren't in the Gold Card Club can find an application at, or by contacting Lauren Smith at or 351-3722. You can also fill out an application at the Oct. 16 breakfast.

The club was started in April 2008, and includes semi-annual breakfasts to keep members updated on the school district. Members can attend Champaign school events for free, with the exception of IHSA tournaments.

At the Central-Centennial football game Oct. 18, Centennial Key Club members will escort Gold Card members to front-row seats.

Members who want to participate in that service should email Marian Wyatt at by Oct. 16.
