Champaign district's Gold Card Club sets breakfast

CHAMPAIGN — The Champaign school district's Gold Card Club, which is open to those age 55 and older who live within the school district, is having a breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 16 at Westview Elementary School.

The breakfast will include an update from Superintendent Judy Wiegand and a tour of the recently remodeled school, led by Principal Sean Morrison.

Those who aren't in the Gold Card Club can find an application at http://www.champaignschools.org, or by contacting Lauren Smith at smithla@Champaignschools.org or 351-3722. You can also fill out an application at the Oct. 16 breakfast.

The club was started in April 2008, and includes semi-annual breakfasts to keep members updated on the school district. Members can attend Champaign school events for free, with the exception of IHSA tournaments.

At the Central-Centennial football game Oct. 18, Centennial Key Club members will escort Gold Card members to front-row seats.

Members who want to participate in that service should email Marian Wyatt at wyattma@champaignschools.org by Oct. 16.
