Man sentenced to 6 years in drug case

URBANA — An Urbana man who admitted he had Ecstasy for sale in July has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Blake Williams, 24, of the 1600 block of Willow Road, will have to serve the prison sentence he received Wednesday for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance after a two-year sentence he received in Ford County last year for criminal trespass.

Judge Richard Klaus agreed to recommend Williams for the Department of Corrections' boot camp program.

Williams was arrested on July 3 by Urbana police drug investigators who served a search warrant at his home and found about 53 doses of Ecstasy.

While he was initially charged with a Class X felony, Assistant State's Attorney Sarah Carlson agreed to let Williams plead guilty to the less serious Class 1 felony.

Carlson said Williams had prior convictions for domestic battery, possession of controlled substance, obstructing justice, and battery.
