Woman dies in crash near Melvin

MELVIN — A 58-year-old rural Melvin woman died from injuries received in a two-vehicle crash north of Melvin on Wednesday.

Ford County Coroner Doug Wallace said Kitty A. Mullins was pronounced dead at 10:45 a.m. by a physician in the emergency room at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City.

An autopsy will be done Thursday, Wallace said.

The accident occurred north of Melvin, Wallace said, but he could provide no other details.

Wallace said Mrs. Mullins was the driver of one of the vehicles involved. Both she and the other driver, whom Wallace declined to identify, were taken by ambulance to the emergency room, Wallace said.

A message left with the Ford County sheriff's office was not immediately returned.
