Catlin School Board sets vote on consolidation

Catlin School Board sets vote on consolidation

The Catlin School District on Thursday night could take another step toward consolidation.

School board president Jeff Fauver said the board is set to vote on consolidating with Jamaica Schools.

The district had been considering many options for consolidation due to a lack of funds.  But Fauver said officials decided that Jamaica was the right fit.

Fauver said, though, that a "yes" vote Thursday night would not be final approval.

The issue would also have to be taken to voters for approval.  Fauver said that could happen as early as next fall.

Thursday's Catlin School Board meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Catlin High School.
