Coat collection scheduled for Oct. 19

CHAMPAIGN — The 10th annual Coat the Community collection is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 19 in the County Market parking lot at Kirby Avenue and Duncan Road.

Volunteers collect clean coats to be distributed freely to local families in need; 350 were collected in 2012. All kinds of coats are welcomed, but children's winter coats and heavy coats in all sizes are especially needed.

The Salvation Army will have the coats available for distribution from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 22-25 and 9 to noon Oct. 26 at 2212 N. Market St., C.

The Salvation Army, County Market, 92.5 The Chief, News Channel 15, The News-Gazette, Kemper Industrial Equipment, Dean's Graphics, Meg Pittman/Busey and Scott Bechtel and The Bechtel Group at Keller Williams Realty are among the sponsors.
