The collection event will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the The News-Gazette Distribution Center, 3202 Apollo Drive, C. Motorists can get to the building by way of North Market Street east to Olympian Drive.

Among the electronics items that will be accepted are televisions, computers, laptops, computer monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, cables, zip drives, fax machines, PDAs, video game consoles, mobile phones, microwave ovens, and VCR/DVD/ MP3 players.

"This year our focus has been on sharing information about other options which exist in the area for recycling or reuse of electronic items, with this information about these local options available at the Champaign County RRR (reduce, reuse, recycle) web page," said Susan Monte, Champaign County's recycling coordinator. "Presently, the local options which exist for recycling of TVs of any size or type is becoming more and more limited."

Residents also are encouraged to participate in the online electronics recycling survey at the RPC web site for the chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card. Participants must be 18 or over to enter and a Champaign County resident.
