Two events this weekend to benefit Center for Women in Transition

You have two chances Saturday to help the Center for Women in Transition, which is located in Champaign.

First, the United Way Emerging Community Leaders Program will hold a professional clothing drive to benefit the center's retail shop called Transitions Thrift Store.  The drive is held in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Professional clothes are sought to help women who are trying to get back into the workforce.  Also, the Center for Women in Transition is looking for winter coats, blankets for twin beds, unused towels and maternity, children and infant clothes.  Clothing cannot have holes, stains or tears.  The clothes drive will be held from 7 a.m. until noon at  Urbana's Market at the Square on Saturday.  That's at Lincoln Square Mall.

Meanwhile, on Saturday night, you can enjoy singing along with the movie Grease at the Virginia Theatre. Lyrics for the songs will appear on the screen. Costumes are encouraged. General admission tickets are still available at $25 a piece.  The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Virginia Theatre in Downtown Champaign.
