Horse rescue agency sets open house

DEWEY — The Society for Hooved Animals' Rescue and Emergency — known as SHARE Horse Rescue — will hold its annual open house from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 27 at 2946 County Road 800 E., rural Dewey.

This year's event includes many family-friendly activities, including horse rides hay rides, face painting and demonstrations. Visitors can tour three barns and interact with more than two dozen of the rescue's friendliest adoptable horses.

Directions and more information can be found on the SHARE website at http://www.s-h-a-r-e.net.

The annual event is one of the group's largest fundraisers. The group hopes to raise more $4,000 this year.

SHARE says this year's open house is even more important because of rising costs. More than 60 horses are living at the rescue awaiting new homes.

SHARE officials said the open house is a good hands-on learning experience, especially if one may want to be a horse owner someday.

The Society for Hooved Animals Rescue and Emergency was formed in 2005.
