Updated: Two arrests made in Champaign domestic dispute

Champaign Police said two people are facing charges in connection with a domestic situation that occurred Tuesday on the west side of the city.

Deputy Police Chief Troy Daniels said 20 year-old Jerry O'Neal the Second is facing a preliminary charge of domestic battery, while a 16 year-old who was also at scene is facing a preliminary charge of felony resisting arrest.

Daniels said police were called to an apartment building in the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue at around noon Tuesday.  He said when officers arrived on scene, there was one person still inside the apartment along with a small child.

Daniels added that the situation ended fairly quickly after that.  He said a 28 year-old woman who was able to run out of the apartment and contact police and a three month-old child were not injured in the incident.

Daniels said an officer was injured during the arrest of one of the suspects, but he said the officer was treated and released from the hospital.

It's a safe bet that "an apartment building in the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue" will follow the report of a crime in any given crime report from Champaign.

Bulldoze them.
