Catlin OKs tree removal

CATLIN — Village officials voted this week to have a walnut tree that is too close to the park pavilion removed.

Simmons Tree Service of Catlin will take down the tree and grind down its stump at a total cost of about $225.

Mayor Jim Robinson said the tree is healthy, but it is in the way. The village just planted a new tree in the park near Vermilion Street, where it will not block sunlight near the pavilion.
