Former U.S. senator to give lecture in Champaign

A former U.S. senator will deliver a lecture on the University of Illinois campus on Friday on his four decades of public service.

Alan Dixon will speak at 2 p.m. at the I Hotel in Champaign. He'll also sign copies of his book "The Gentleman from Illinois."

Dixon said the book details, among other things, his interactions with the political heavy hitters of years past.

Dixon made the comments Tuesday on "A Penny For Your Thoughts" on WDWS.

If you want to attend Friday's lecture, you're asked to RSVP by calling 351-1430, ext. 12.
