Nobody hurt in house fire in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — Nobody was reported hurt at a fire in a vacant house late Saturday afternoon in Champaign.

According to a Champaign fire department report, firefighters were called to a single-story house at 208 William St. at 5:53 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from the living room of the house.

Firefighters had the fire under control by 6:03 p.m.

Champaign Fire Department Lt. Chuck Sullivan said the blaze appeared to have started in the living room.

Total damage to the home was estimated at $5,500.

Sullivan said it was too early to determine a cause of the fire.
Investigators remained at the scene to try to determine the cause.

The owner of the home was listed as Justin Koehler.
