Champaign man dies following two-vehicle crash

CHAMPAIGN — A Champaign man died Thursday evening following a two-vehicle crash in the parking lot of Market Place Mall.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup said that James W. Burch III, 66, of Champaign, was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Mr. Burch was the driver and sole occupant of a vehicle that hit a van in the parking lot, according to Northrup.

Northrup said an autopsy will be scheduled. An inquest may be held at a later date.
