Officials encourage safe disposal of meds this weekend

Officials are encouraging you to safely get rid of your old or unwanted medications on Saturday.

The effort is a part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Local drop off locations include the Walgreens stores on Bloomington Road in Champaign and Philo Road in Urbana.  Two locations are also available in Vermilion County:  the CVS Pharmacy and county courthouse, both located on Vermilion Street.  And in Douglas County, you can dispose of your medications at the sheriff's office on Washington Street.
