Bement school board member resigns

BEMENT — Joseph E. Wittmer has resigned from the Bement School Board, according to district Superintendent Sheila Greenwood.

"Mr. Wittmer resigned to pursue further educational and career opportunities. It is with regret that this announcement is being made," said Greenwood.

She added the resignation will be officially acted on at the school board's Nov. 13 meeting.

Wittmer has served on the board for four years and won a four-year term this past April. A replacement would need to come from Township 17 North, Range 6 East, and would fill the board seat until the spring of 2015 election. Interested parties may inquire about the open seat by contacting Greenwood at the school district office, 217-678-4200.
