Georgetown Township event to help with power bills

GEORGETOWN — Southern Vermilion County residents can sign up to receive assistance with their power bill through Georgetown Township later this month.

The township will host a power blitz from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at the township office, 1805 N. Main St., Georgetown.

The event is for income-eligible residents who have not received help from the East Central Illinois Community Action Agency in Danville this fall.

People must bring proof of income for the last 30 days, Social Security cards for everyone in their household and a current electric and gas bill. They must also bring proof if any household member receives aid through federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program or other low-income programs.

Monthly income guidelines are as follows: one in family, $1,436; two in family, $1,939; three in family, $2,441; four in family, 2,999; five in family, $3,446; six in family, $3,949; seven in family, $4,451; and eight in family, $4,954.
