Georgetown appoints two to new positions

GEORGETOWN — City officials appointed two employees to new positions on Monday: Office worker Michelle McGowan was named deputy city clerk, and part-time police Officer Jeff Keeling was appointed to a full-time position.

McGowan is in the office on a full-time basis, and City Clerk Lucas Seilhymer said that, as deputy clerk, McGowan will be able to use the city seal on official documents and sign reports as the deputy clerk when he is unavailable.

Police Chief R. Whitney Renaker said Keeling has served as a part-time officer in the city since 2002 and expressed an interest in filling a vacancy left when the third-shift officer, Brian Cornett, recently accepted a job in another town.

Council members also announced that the community center would be opened for walkers from 7 to 9 a.m. on weekdays.
