Danville offers collection of storm debris

DANVILLE - The Danville public works department is offering a special storm collection for limbs, branches and other storm-related debris.

This special collection is for debris larger than three inches in diameter and for large amounts of limbs. If you have that type of debris, call 431-2288 as soon as possible to schedule a special collection. Residents should put this debris at the curb and it will be collected as soon as possible following the phone request.

This special collection will be available until Nov. 30. This does not change the normal yard waste collection cycles for any residents who have yard-waste stickers, and all private contractors are responsible for removing any tree debris they create. Residents can use the weekly yard waste collection to remove smaller items on their normal waste collection day.

Debris that's less than three inches in diameter should be cut to lengths no longer than four feet and placed at the curb for collection on the regularly scheduled yard waste collection day. Smaller materials are to be bundled with twine and placed in the same location. Waste can also be placed in paper yard waste bags. No limbs, bags or bundles may exceed 50 pounds.

The last week for the regular yard waste collection program is Dec. 9 through Dec. 13, although yard waste toters with 2013 stickers may also be used during the holiday tree collection program.

Questions may be directed to Danville public works at 431-2288.
