2 men sought in robbery of Champaign delivery driver

CHAMPAIGN — The Champaign Police Department needs help solving an armed robbery at a west Champaign apartment complex earlier this month.

Just before 11 p.m. Nov. 11, a delivery driver for Jimmy John's was approaching a building at the Stonegate Village apartments in the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue.

The driver saw two men wearing ski masks and large puffy jackets standing near a bush at the corner of the building. The first walked away as he approached, so he assumed the second man would follow.

After the driver tried to make the delivery and left the building, one of the robbers came from behind the bush and put a gun to his side. He was told to leave the food, empty his pockets, hand over any cash and drive away. He then went to his vehicle while the robber watched him.

Officers could not find anyone matching the descriptions of the suspects.

The first man is described as black; in his mid-20s; about 6 feet, 4 inches tall; 200 pounds; with a lean build. He was wearing a black ski mask and a white puffy jacket with the hood over his head.

The second, who had the revolver, was described as black; in his mid-20s; about 5 feet, 11 inches tall; 180 pounds; with an average build. He was wearing a black ski mask and black puffy jacket with the fur-lined hood over his head.
