Urbana man held in connection with reported holdup

CHAMPAIGN — An Urbana man is being held at the Champaign County Jail in connection with a reported armed robbery Friday morning.

According to a preliminary Champaign police report, a 21-year-old Urbana man told police he was being given a ride home following the closure of Joe's Brewery, 706 S. Fifth St., C, at 2:15 a.m. Friday, after which he was robbed.

The report said Samuel Q. Pack, 21, who listed an address in the 400 block of East Michigan Avenue, Urbana, allegedly displayed a weapon and took money from him.

Police spokeswoman Rene Dunn said she had no information on what kind of weapon was displayed, where the robbery took place, how police arrested Pack or whether anybody was hurt because the report was not yet complete on Sunday night.

Pack is being held at the jail on $15,000 bond.
