Counselors at PBL following student's death

PAXTON — Counselors are being made available this week at Paxton-Buckley-Loda schools following the unexpected death of a freshman student.

Madison Fuoss, 14, of Paxton, died Saturday in Paxton.

Ford County Coroner Doug Wallace said her death appears to be due to natural causes, but he said he is waiting for toxicology reports and medical records to confirm the cause.

Wallace said Ms. Fuoss was epileptic. He said the coroner's office is trying to determine whether she may have had a seizure before her death.

"Counselors have been available all day and will remain so throughout the week," said Trent Eshleman, principal at PBL High School. "The loss of a young person is tragic and devastating to her friends and family and to our school community. Our students and staff have come together to support one another and to mourn the loss of Madison, as well as to celebrate the fond memories of her.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Madison's loved ones."

Funeral arrangements are pending at Baier Family Funeral Services in Paxton.
