Robberies reported in Dobbins Downs

The Champaign County sheriff's office is seeking help identifying the man or men who robbed a pizza delivery man and a repairman at gunpoint in separate incidents this week in Dobbins Downs, just outside the Champaign city limits.

About 9:45 p.m. Sunday, a pizza delivery business was bringing food to the 1500 block of Kings Way. When the driver arrived at what appeared to be a vacant home, he was robbed at gunpoint of cash and the food he was delivering. The robber was described as a black man in his late teens to mid-20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds and wearing dark baggy clothing, black fingerless gloves and a gray scarf.

In the second incident, at about 8 p.m. Monday, a repairman was finishing work in the 1600 block of Dobbins Downs. As he prepared to leave the area, he was robbed at gunpoint of cash. The robber was described as a black man in his late teens to mid-20s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 215 pounds and wearing dark, baggy clothing and a dark coat with a red patch on the right chest and large red letters on the back of the coat in the shape of an arch.

Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 217-384-1213 or anonymously at Champaign County Crimestoppers at 217-373-TIPS, online at http://www.373tips.org or via text by sending "TIP397" and the information to CRIMES (274637).

I'm rather surprised that any place delivers to Dobbins Downs at all after sunset.
