Champaign police investigate armed robbery
CHAMPAIGN — Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Champaign apartment building on Tuesday night.
Nobody was reported hurt.
According to a Champaign police report, a man living in an apartment in the 2000 block of West Bradley Avenue heard a knock on his door at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
He opened the door to find two men wearing dark colored hooded jackets. One of the men was displaying a gun, and the second man asked where items of value were located inside the apartment.
When the resident replied, “I don’t have any stuff,” one of the men went inside and took two laptop computers and a cellphone. The two robbers then left the apartment, and the victim called police.
Champaign police officers investigating the incident found information leading them to some bags of garbage in the same apartment building,
Inside one of the garbage bags were two laptop computers and a handgun. The cellphone was not recovered, according to police.
The description of the robbers was incomplete.
