Paxton park board fills vacant seat

PAXTON — The Paxton Park District Board of Commissioners has ended its seven-month search for a new board member.

After Eric Evans and Kathleen McCabe opted not to seek re-election in last April's election and Jennifer Snelling resigned in May, Sally Bemount was voted in as a write-in candidate for one of those seats, and Kaye Harper was appointed as replacement for Snelling.

But until Tuesday, the park board could not find anyone interested in filling the remaining vacancy.

The board voted unanimously this week to appoint Rocio Arroyave-Jamison, who ran unsuccessfully for the board in 2009.

Arroyave-Jamison's term will last a year and a half. After that, she said she plans to run for election to the seat.
