Police looking for help in hit-and-run in Urbana

URBANA — Police are looking for more information after a pedestrian was sent to the hospital following a Thursday night hit-and-run accident in east Urbana.

The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a car from behind as he was crossing Smith Road on Main Street around 10:45 p.m., according to an Urbana police news release. The vehicle continued westbound on Main Street without stopping to check on the man.

Police are looking for a white or silver sedan, possibly similar to a Ford Taurus or a Pontiac Grand Am. The vehicle had white lettering in the back window and most likely has damage to the front windshield on the passenger side.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Urbana Police Department at 217-384-2324 or Champaign County Crimestoppers at 217-373-8477. Information may also be sent anonymously online at http://www.373tips.com or by cellphone text message by sending CCTIP plus the information to CRIMES (274637).
