Mattoon man gets 16 years on child porn charges

URBANA — A Mattoon man has been sentenced to 16 years and eight months in federal prison for having and disseminating child pornography.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Michael P. McCuskey also ordered Joseph W. Hoult, 27, to spend the rest of his life on supervised release after he's released from prison for distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography.

Hoult will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Hoult was arrested in Alaska in June 2012 and has been in custody ever since. He was indicted in August 2012 on six counts of receiving and six counts of distributing child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography, on various dates in 2012.

He pleaded guilty on June 21 of this year to all the charges.
