Coroner identifies man who died in crash in rural Philo

PHILO — Champaign County Coroner Duane E. Northrup has identified a man who was killed Monday in rural Philo after the vehicle he was driving hit a tree.

Thomas L. Huskisson, 43, of Danville was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:50 p.m. Monday as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, Northrup said.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday.

Mr. Huskisson’s vehicle was headed west on County Road 300 N, just east of Illinois 130, when it failed to negotiate a curve about five miles south of Philo shortly after 3 p.m., Sgt. Greg Mills of the Champaign County sheriff’s office said.

Mills said the vehicle left the road, hit a tree and rolled over.

An inquest may be held at a later date, Northrup said.

The death is being investigated by the coroner’s office and the Champaign County sheriff’s office.
