DynaChem employee shoots president, self at performance review

WESTVILLE — The president of DynaChem Inc., based near Westville, was shot around 2:30 p.m. today by an employee during a performance review, authorities said.

The employee then shot himself and was later pronounced dead at the scene, Vermilion County Sheriff Pat Hartshorn said.

The president was taken by ambulance to an Urbana hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening, the sheriff said.

Nobody else was injured during the incident.

An extreme example of why performance reviews have long be derided as worse than ineffective management techniques.  And the timing.....oy vey!

Google "get rid of the performance review" for alternatives.
