Pharmacy technician charged with stealing drugs

URBANA — A Walgreen’s employee accused of stealing prescription medication is due back in court Feb. 4.

Anastacia Stemle, 24, who listed an address in the 1000 block of Thomas Court, Rantoul, was criminally charged Friday in Champaign County Circuit Court with felony theft over $500 for allegedly stealing prescription pain medication from Walgreen Drug Store at 1713 W. Springfield Ave., C.

A Champaign police report said Stemle, a pharmacy technician at the store, allegedly stole the drugs between Oct. 1 and when she was arrested on Thursday.

She was charged with a Class 3 felony, the penalties for which range from probation to two to five years in prison upon conviction.

Judge John Kennedy allowed Stemle to remain free on her own recognizance.
