Fire extinguished at Rantoul laboratory

RANTOUL — Rantoul firefighters have extinguished a fire at Combe Laboratories on the village's west side.

Rantoul police Sgt. Justin Bouse said a fire was reported at the business at 200 Shellhouse Drive about 10:35 a.m.

Bouse said employees were evacuated and were sitting in their vehicles waiting for firefighters and company supervisors to give the all clear.

"It's up in the ductwork. It looks like some smoke is coming out of the north side of the building," said Bouse, who was on the scene.

Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Kaiser said the fire was in ductwork in the northeast corner of the building and had been extinguished.
