Replacement of sign trusses on I-74 resuming

CHAMPAIGN — The removal and replacement of sign trusses on Interstate 74 between I-57 in Champaign and Cunningham Avenue in Urbana is set to resume Sunday, having been delayed due to the recent bad weather.

The all-stop road closures remaining are only in the westbound lanes. Lane closures will continue in both the eastbound and westbound lanes but will occur between 9 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Friday.

Full road closures will be limited to 15 minutes per closure between midnight and 4 a.m. All lanes of I-74 will be reopened the following morning by 5:30 a.m. Message boards and state police will be used during the road closures.

Weather permitting, the work should be done by Feb. 9.
