Rantoul man who had cannabis gets 5 years

URBANA — A Rantoul man who admitted having several ounces of cannabis intended for sale has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Antione Ingram, 30, whose last known address was in the 600 block of Heath Drive, pleaded guilty in Champaign County Circuit Court in September to possession with intent to deliver cannabis.

The charge stemmed from his arrest by Rantoul police during an April 3 traffic stop in the 1600 block of Short Street.

A Rantoul police report said Ingram was a passenger in the car stopped after it allegedly ran a stop sign. Ingram was found to have 125 grams — about 4 ounces — of cannabis in a plastic bag in his pants pocket.

Judge Harry Clem imposed the sentence Monday.

Court records show Ingram had prior convictions for delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substnace, intimidation and aggravated battery.
