Champaign man charged in burglary

CHAMPAIGN — A 22-year-old Champaign man was charged Friday in Champaign County Circuit Court with residential burglary for allegedly entering an apartment in his neighborhood earlier this month intending to steal.

A Champaign police report said Travis T. Williams, who listed an address in the 2100 block of West White Street, was arrested on Moreland Boulevard Thursday night for residential burglary.

Champaign police spokeswoman Rene Dunn said Williams had been identified from security video as the person who entered an apartment in the 2000 block of West White Street about 6 p.m. on Jan. 2 and stole a laptop computer.

If convicted of the Class 1 felony, Williams faces a mandatory prison term of between four and 15 years.
