Heroin plea brings prison sentence

URBANA — A Chicago man who admitted having heroin for sale in Champaign has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Deantonio L. Lenoir, 23, pleaded guilty Thursday before Judge Tom Difanis to a single count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Champaign police arrested Lenoir and co-defendant Levon Redding, 27, of Urbana, on July 23 for having about 7 grams of heroin packaged in 42 bags at a home in the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue.

Redding pleaded guilty in September to the same charge and was sentenced to eight years in prison with a recommendation for boot camp.
