Champaign hopes to have new fire chief on the job by May

The City of Champaign hopes to have a new fire chief on the job by May.

It's looking to replace Doug Forsman, who retired, and in November it restarted the search after no viable candidates emerged.

Now, the city said it's received 45 applications for the job, and it'll review those and conduct phone interviews through next month.  The finalists will be brought to town for interviews in early March with a job offer expected by April.
