Gas station robbery under investigation

CHAMPAIGN - Champaign County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who robbed a west Champaign gas station and convenience store at gunpoint Thursday night.

Sgt. Jeff Vercler said at 9:40 p.m., a masked man went in the Mobil Super Pantry, 4202 W. Springfield Ave., and pointed a handgun at the male clerk and ordered two customers to lie on the floor.

The robber demanded cash and was handed an undisclosed amount. He took off in a silver car to the west, Vercler said. Another customer in the parking lot also saw the man.

The witnesses described the robber as a black man, about 6 feet tall, thin, wearing a dark colored mask and dark coat.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 217-384-1213 or Crimestoppers at 217-373-8477.

Your comment shows how much you read our news gazette. I've read numerous articles on mopes of every race, gender and religion for that matter. Your comment also shows how narrow minded and ignorant you are. I personally have arrested my fair share of individuals of every race and gender. Soooooo unless your actually on the street with me and my brothers and sister in blue, you should probably simmer down with your attempt to incite hate. Come do a ride along, we wont throw you to the
