I-74 crash kills truck driver

A crash early Saturday on Interstate 74 has left an Indiana man dead.

State police say a state snowplow driver saw a vehicle crash on I-74 westbound between St. Joseph and Ogden at 12:42 a.m. Saturday and notified state police.

State police found a semitrailer truck had gone off the right side of the road past a perimeter fence, through a line of trees and stopped partially submerged in a pond.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup identified the driver as William J. Webb, 59, of Alexandria, Ind. Northrup said Mr. Webb was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

There were no passengers, state police said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
