Following is a collection of news and notes related to the latest cold snap forecast to hit East Central Illinois this week. New 11:10 p.m. The University of Illinois reports the following:
Classes and operations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will proceed as scheduled Monday, Jan. 27. Please use caution as you travel in and around campus during what is forecast to be an extremely cold and windy day and night.
State police have issued a travel advisory for highways in East Central Illinois.
Affected areas include Champaign, Coles, Douglas, Coles, Edgar, Moultrie, Piatt and Vermilion counties.
Police report scattered areas where whiteout conditions may exist tonight and into tomorrow morning due to high winds blowing snow blowing across roadways.
Motorists are cautioned to reduce speed as they approach areas where snow is blowing across the roadway, as visibility is essentially nonexistent once inside the blowing snow.

A winter storm warning has been issued for Ford and Iroquois counties until 6 a.m. Monday.
A wind chill warning is in effect for Champaign, Vermilion, Douglas, Edgar, DeWitt and Piatt counties until noon Tuesday.
A wind chill warning is in effect for Ford and Iroquois counties from 3 a.m. Monday to noon Tuesday.
A wind chill advisory is in effect for Macon, Moultrie, Coles and Shelby counties until noon Tuesday.
A wind advisory is in effect for Champaign, Vermilion, DeWitt, Piatt, Macon, Moultrie, Douglas, Coles, Edgar and Shelby counties from 8 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for Ford and Iroquois counties until 6 a.m. Monday.
