Promise Healthcare gets grant to provide dental care for kids

The head of a local healthcare organization said her agency is thrilled to be selected as the first ever recipient of a $100,000 award that's aimed at helping to improve children's oral health.

Promise Healthcare announced Monday that it has received the Wisdom Tooth Award from the Delta Dental Foundation of Illinois for its SmileHealthy program.

Promise Healthcare Executive Director Nancy Greenwalt said the grant will allow the organization to reach more patients.

Greenwalt added that Promise Healthcare will use the grant over a period of two years.  She said the SmileHealthy program has had a signficant impact in the number of children it serves in the area and the ability to deliver care over time.
