GIFFORD — A food pantry serving tornado victims in northeastern Champaign County is in need of household cleaning products, personal hygiene items and food products.
The pantry at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gifford also could use volunteer help, according to Christina Gann, operations manager at the church's tornado relief site.
"If you are free for two hours a week at the pantry, we would appreciate that," Gann told a community meeting earlier this week.
The pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays, and 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The pantry recently received a $1,180 donation, and it was put to use Tuesday when volunteers restocked depleted items.
But Gann said the following items are needed:
Clorox wipes, laundry detergent, dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, Kleenex, paper plates, paper towels, napkins, Ziploc bags, baby wash, baby lotion, baby shampoo, liquid hand soap, shaving cream, disposable razors, jelly, Pop-Tarts, beef stew, canned sloppy Joe mix, chicken helper, tuna helper, Rice-A-Roni, canned meat, juice and canned fruits.
