URBANA — An Urbana man who allegedly offered a teen his credit card if she would have sex with him has been criminally charged with indecent solicitation of a minor.
Urbana police arrested Ulraick Brown, 37, who listed an address in the 1600 block of Hunter Street, on Thursday.
Investigator Tim McNaught said police received a call Thursday night saying that Brown, a registered sex offender, was in the company of teens at a home in the 1600 block of Hunter Street. Police found a 19-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl there and learned from talking to them that Brown had allegedly made inappropriate contact with each of them.
McNaught said the younger teen told police that on Jan. 3, she and Brown had been at another home in the neighborhood where adolescents are known to gather. While she was alone with him in the kitchen of the home in the 1200 block of Lierman Avenue, he allegedly offered to give her his credit card so she could buy clothes in return for having sex with him. The girl declined,
When police spoke to Brown Thursday night, he said he had not been alone with the younger teen, but McNaught said police found them lying on a mattress in an upstairs bedroom watching television.
Because of a 2007 conviction for aggravated criminal sexual abuse, Brown is required to register as a sex offender.
Indecent solicitation of a minor is a Class 3 felony.
