Ex-Illini charged with DUI

DECATUR — A former University of Illinois football star has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence.

According to a state police report, Brit W. Miller, 27, who listed an address in Decatur, was arrested early Monday morning in his hometown.

A police officer stopped a pickup truck driven by Miller at 1:55 a.m. Monday at the intersection of U.S. 36 and Fairview Avenue, the report stated. The truck was traveling east in the westbound lanes of U.S. 36 as it approached Fairview.

Police said Miller showed signs of impairment and admitted he had been drinking.

He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of open alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to wear a seat belt and driving in the wrong direction.

Miller released from the Macon County Jail after he posted bond, and is due back in court March 6.

Miller was named an All-Big Ten linebacker as a UI senior in 2008 and went on to play for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams.
