Police seize suspected marijuana from Champaign home

URBANA — A Champaign man is due back in court April 8 after police seized about 18 ounces of suspected marijuana from a Champaign home and arrested him.

Mario Shawntell Burden, 30, who listed an address in the 1400 block of West Anthony Drive, Champaign, was charged Tuesday with one felony count of possession with the intent to deliver cannabis.

Judge John Kennedy set Burden’s bond at $12,000.

According to a police report, the Champaign Police Department narcotics unit, with the help of patrol officers, served a search warrant at a home in the Country Brook apartment complex in the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue, Champaign, at
1:50 p.m. Monday.

During a search of the home, police seized about 18 ounces of suspected marijuana and more than $10,000 in cash, arrested Burden and took him to the county jail.
