NAMI offers family members class series

CHAMPAIGN — Help living with a mentally ill family member is being offered by the National Alliance on Mental Illness in a free 12-week class series.

The classes run each Tuesday from 6:30-9 p.m., and started this week, but there are openings available and people can still sign up for the next three weeks, the organization says.

The program, called Family-to-Family, is designed to educate family members and loved ones of people with mental illness about mechanisms of the brain, medications, therapies and practical tips to interact with people with brain disorders. Tips on self-care and finding mental health care are also offered.

Classes are held at the Colony West Clubhouse, 31 Colony West Drive, C.

To sign up, contact Nancy Carter at, or call 356-1925.
