Police investigate criminal sexual abuse in Urbana

URBANA — University of Illinois police are investigating a criminal sexual abuse incident outside the Soybean Research building over the weekend.

According to a police report, two women were walking near Pennsylvania Avenue and Dorner Drive in Urbana at about 2:05 a.m. Saturday when a man approached them and asked them for the time.

The man then began to follow the two women to an area southwest of the research building, located at 1100 W. Pennsylvania Ave., where he began groping and touching one of the women.

Police said the man then pushed the woman into the snow and stood over her while he continued to grope her.

When the second woman called 911, the man ran away.

The attacker was described as a multiracial (white/black) male with a light brown skintone. He is between 5-foot-4 and 5-8. He has a thin build and had a thin mustache with no other facial hair. The man was wearing a blue stocking cap, blue pullover windbreaker with no zipper or hood, blue Spandex-type running pants and tennis shoes.
