Man sentenced for indecent solicitation

URBANA — An Urbana man who admitted he tried to get a teen-age girl to engage in sex with him has been sentenced to two years of conditional discharge.

Ulraick Brown, 38, of the 1600 block of Hunter Street, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Champaign County Judge Tom Difanis to indecent solicitation of a minor.

The charge stemmed from a Jan. 3 incident in which Brown, a registered sex offender, was at a home in the 1200 block of Lierman Avenue in Urbana where teen girls were present. On that day he offered to give a 14-year-old his credit card so she could buy clothes in return for having sex with him. The girl declined.

Brown was also sentenced to 27 days in jail but given credit for time served. He was also ordered to have no contact with any child under the age of 18.

Court records show he has a 2007 conviction for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Difanis set a May 5 hearing to review Brown's sex offender evaluation and confirm his sentence.
