Nobody reported hurt in mobile home fire

URBANA — A Wednesday afternoon fire destroyed a mobile home in rural Urbana.

Nobody was reported hurt.

According to a Carroll Fire Department report, firefighters were called to a fire at 29 Gurth Drive at 3:15 p.m.

Firefighters from the Eastern Prairie Fire Department provided mutual aid assistance.

When the firefighters arrived, they found fire coming from the rear of the structure and fire pushing through the roof.

Firefighters had the fire under control by 3:40 p.m. and left the scene by 6:14 p.m.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire, and nobody was hurt, according to the report.

The owner of the mobile home was listed as Ivanhoe Estates.

Carroll Fire Department Lt. Jeremy Hoffman said the building was a total loss. He estimated the damage at $35,000.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation on Wednesday night, but Hoffman said that firefighters “believe no foul play was involved.”
